The Baglehound is a crossbreed
of the Basset Hound and the Beagle and has an average lifespan of approximately
10-15 years. It is a large-sized dog and prominent for being intelligent,
loyal, playful, and social. Their nose is similar to the hound and has a
powerful sense of smell used for tracing scent. Avoid taking them for a walk
without a leash since they will be ignoring your call and leave you once their
nose catches an interesting scent.
The Origin
of the Baglehound
The origin of the Baglehound
is found in the history of its parent, the Basset Hound and the Beagle. Basset
Hound was bred originally in France during 1600, and the Beagle was found in
Rome in 1800. Like any other hybrid breed, there can be a variation in the
prominent features of the Baglehound puppies. They are sometimes laid back,
which is a prevalent behavior of the Basset Hound, and can also be very active
like the Beagle.
Physical
Characteristics
Baglehound
can grow at an average height of about 12 to 17 inches and can weigh at more or
less 33 to 55lbs. They have a smooth and short coat which means that the
grooming is relatively simple. It does not require a lot to maintain its smooth
and shiny coat. Sometimes a twice per week brushing can do magic. The Baglehound dog breed can get fat which
is why it is necessary to regulate the dog’s eating habits. Their body is
longer compared to the average canine species but not very long as the body of
the Basset Hound. It is muscular and compact with a very deep chest. It has
long ears, a large skull and a square-shaped nuzzle.
Proper
Care
In terms of its grooming needs, the Baglehound
requires minimum maintenance. Brushing is fairly simple since you only remove
the loose hair and not the tangled hair. When bathing this dog, choose
carefully the shampoo that you will use. Ensure that it will not eliminate the
natural oil that their body produces. Clean their ears regularly by using a moist
and clean cloth. A large dog will require 2 ½ to 3 cups of dry food every day.
Choosing the Baglehound puppies
for sale will give you a great dog for the family. It is a good companion
for the kids and the other pets. You will need to be prepared for some hard
training. Avoid using harsh punishment and tone, which will only make them more
stubborn.
